Responsibilities

Plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker
Possess the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program
Independently determine appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished
Devise and maintain all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance
Plan, organize and direct shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision
Determine approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner
May provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions,such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions,leave, etc
Perform the same type and level of work as performed within the unit
Perform other related duties as required

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment
Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment
Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment
For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or principally employed
Military Grades: E-4 through E-8
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 9 months experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc
