School Age Program Assistant Director - Namaqua

The YMCA of Northern Colorado is seeking a School Age Program Assistant Director to lead and support staff in providing care for children. The role involves supervising activities, maintaining program standards, and ensuring effective communication with parents and community members.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Independently leads and supervises children in small and large group activities
Adheres to program standards including CDHS licensing, safety and cleanliness
Attends staff meetings and trainings
Follows and ensures implementation of YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community members
Maintains confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents and records
Is on time for all shifts; and is flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days
Provides leadership and support to Program Leaders, Program Aides and Volunteers
Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques to participants with natural consequences in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures and expectations
Supports the director in planning, preparing and implementing programming and in maintaining required records and other necessary information according to YMCA standards
Provides leadership by being knowledgeable of specific activities, anticipating challenges and identifying tasks that need to be completed

Required

Age 21 years or older
Driver qualified - clear MVR
A four-year degree in a related field OR an associate's degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college or university and three (3) months (455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual OR 3,185 hours of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual OR a current early childhood professional credential level 2 or higher
Staff are expected to become certified or supply documentation of current certification in CPR and First Aid
Staff will be expected to work well on a team, communicate well with youth, parents and colleagues, and be committed to high quality programming
Documented experience includes experience working directly with school-age children in such areas as Sunday school, Scouts, sports, or babysitting
