Responsibilities

Support the development and maintenance of data extraction and transformation pipelines
Assist the data management team with routine database tasks, running reports, and developing code in response to research needs
Develop data quality reports and/or interactive dashboards to monitor data collection and share key results
Prepare clean, well-documented datasets to support research teammates’ reports, presentations, and publications
Develop and regularly run reports to assess data quality and identify errors
Conduct direct data quality assurance by observing field interviews in Kinyarwanda
Generate data visualizations and tabulations to support research activities
Prepare PowerPoint slides, reports, and poster presentations

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science or statistics, or in a related field with a strong quantitative and programming focus
Some prior experience with programming (ideally in Python, R, or SQL) and a willingness to gain additional programming skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive
Basic knowledge of quantitative research methods, data collection, and data analysis
Commitment to data quality and confidentiality
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on tasks
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
The position is open to Rwandan citizens only

Preferred

Some prior experience with health-related data collection, management, and analysis
Excellent written and oral communication skills in Kinyarwanda
Experience with Git or other version control systems
A master's degree in a related field such as computer science or statistics
Willingness to reside in the UGHE's Butaro campus and travel to the HD2SS field sites in Butaro sector
