Capital Project Manager
Wright Technical Services is seeking a Project Manager – Capital Projects to provide technical leadership and manage medium to large capital projects within a manufacturing plant. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure successful project delivery from definition through execution, focusing on scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead medium to large capital projects from concept through completion
Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, and resources to meet project objectives
Apply Front-End Loading (FEL), FEED, and Stage-Gate methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
Drive engineering design, construction, and execution of capital projects
Manage equipment FATs, installations, SATs, startups, project closeout, and post-project reviews
Define project scope, deliverables, success criteria, and key performance metrics in collaboration with stakeholders
Coordinate and influence cross-functional teams with competing priorities to align with project goals
Partner with procurement on vendor selection, bid packages, and contractor management
Monitor project budgets and forecasts, ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting
Manage project change requests and clearly communicate impacts to schedule and cost
Prepare and deliver project reports and presentations for leadership reviews
Lead regular project reviews, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation plans
Maintain strong presence on the manufacturing floor, complying with all safety protocols and PPE requirements (including respirator use as required)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related) – required
7–10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment
5+ years of capital project management experience
Proven experience managing capital projects valued at $10M–$25M
Strong understanding of FEL / FEED / Stage-Gate project execution methodologies
Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and startup
Solid knowledge of contracts, schedules, cost estimating, and engineering design processes
Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and Visio
Strong organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Comfortable working in high-safety manufacturing environments and wearing required PPE
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
