This role involves performing intermediate skilled mechanical work related to the repair and servicing of a variety of automotive equipment, including diagnosing mechanical failures and making necessary repairs.

Responsibilities
Performs major and minor repair on all type automotive equipment such as routine inspections, system diagnostics, and automotive trouble shooting, testing, complete repair
Change out of standard transmissions, service and make minor repairs to automatic transmissions, replaces clutches in cars, trucks, buses and tractors
Turns brake drums and rotors, overhaul brake system and related repairs
Repairs hydraulic systems on all types of equipment
Repairs and replaces electrical components such as alternators, starters relays, batteries, wiring and lights
Replaces body components
Performs diversified electrical work on automotive heavy equipment
Performs diversified HVAC work in automotive heavy equipment
Completes welding and metal fabrication work
Performs related tasks as required
Qualification
Required
Completion of high school or GED
Considerable experience at the journeyman level as a line technician
Approved vocational school training in the automotive technology field
Possession of a valid commercial driver's license issued by the State of Tennessee
DOT physical, drug screening and background check required
General knowledge of the maintenance and repair on a wide variety of automobiles, trucks, tractors and construction type equipment
Thorough knowledge and skill in the use of service tools and diagnostic equipment such as drill press, grinders, brake lathes, laptop computer, scanner, welding equipment and all tools related to the repair and maintenance of various types of equipment
Thorough knowledge in safety precautions and liabilities related to the repair and maintenance of various types of equipment
Ability to do suspension repairs
Ability to diagnose, repair, and trouble shoot electrical systems
Ability and skill to diagnose gasoline/diesel engines, automatic transmission /standard transmission and differentials on variety of equipment
Ability to detect by inspection any worn, missing, broken, mismatched or wrongly adjusted parts
Ability to keep records of repairs, parts and servicing of various types of equipment
Ability to work from drawings, sketches and wiring schematics
Ability to use and interpret service and repair manuals for different types of equipment
Ability to follow both oral and written instructions accurately
Dexterity to operate machinery
