FT Faculty: Computer Information Technology (Fall semester 2026)

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is one of Massachusetts' largest community colleges, serving approximately 16,000 students annually. They are seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the Computer Information Technology Department, focusing on networking and security, responsible for teaching, advising, and contributing to the college community.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the teaching and curriculum development in the Computer Information Technology Department with primary teaching responsibilities in networking and security
Participate in ongoing curriculum review, assessment and modification
Develop instructional material consistent with course objectives and student learning outcomes and competencies. Use new technologies in the classroom to supplement instruction
Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current in teaching and content area knowledge. Teach in different modalities such as online, hybrid and remote
Work effectively with a diverse student, faculty and staff population
Actively participate as a faculty member in the general College and fulfill duties as stipulated in the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement

Required

Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and significant professional experience
3-5 years of recent, relevant experience in one or more of: IT support/administration, network engineering, network security, systems administration, cloud platforms, security operations, data analytics/data science and/or automation/DevOps
Ability to teach all levels of networking and security using lab-based, hands-on methods across in-person, synchronous remote, and web modalities
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered, inclusive teaching and proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population
Willingness to develop and teach online/hybrid/remote courses and engage in ongoing professional development to stay current

Preferred

Master's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field
Industry certifications, or equivalent relevant industry experience, such as: Cisco CCNA/CCNP; CompTIA Network+/Security+/CySA+; Linux+; Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE; Cloud associate (AWS/Azure/GCP); Offensive/security (CEH/eJPT/eCPPT); Network vendor (Palo Alto/Aruba/Juniper)
Demonstrated experience with artificial intelligence in the teaching learning process
Demonstrated experience teaching in an online format
Demonstrated experience supporting student retention as part of teaching and learning
Community college teaching experience
