Responsibilities

Plans, develops, and administers multi-media environmental programs for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe with focus on Clean Water Act (CWA) Water Quality 106 and 319 Programs and Animas River Program

Required

Must have a BA/BS in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or Environmental Sciences field and 5 years of applied experience in water quality sampling, assessments, research, permitting, stream restoration or other water quality related field
Must have 2 years of experience with environmental project staff supervision and scheduling
Must have knowledge of Tribal, Federal, and State environmental laws, particularly Federal Clean Water Act regulations and grant programs, including implementation of water quality standards and Clean Water Act sections 106, 303, 319, and 401
Must have computer experience in software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel
Must have experience with education and outreach activities to various age and knowledge groups
Must have valid Driver's License for state of residence and be insurable under the Tribal Vehicle Insurance Policy
Must pass a thorough background check including, Criminal History and pre-employment drug test

Preferred

Five (5) years of experience in a water or water quality related field, with program, grant, project, and staff management responsibilities
Working knowledge and experience with Tribal Water Quality Standards and Colorado Water Quality Control Commission Regulations
Experience implementing 401 water quality certification review procedures
Experience in Geographical Information Systems, to include ESRI products and Global Positioning Systems
Experience using Ambient Water Quality Monitoring System (AWQMS) and Water Quality Exchange (WQX) databases
