Mid LevelGlobal IT Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer – Control Automation & ETL Testing to join their Risk and Controls organization. This role focuses on building scalable ETL pipelines and designing automated data validation frameworks, ensuring data quality and compliance through automation.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines that transform raw data into analytics-ready datasets for control execution
Optimize SQL queries and Python-based transformations across relational and cloud data platforms such as Postgres and Snowflake
Integrate structured and unstructured data sources (e.g., JSON, relational databases, cloud storage) into a unified data layer for risk and reporting use cases
Develop and execute automated QA test suites using Python frameworks such as PyTest and Great Expectations
Implement 'Data-as-Code' testing frameworks to proactively detect data quality issues, schema drift, and anomalies
Perform unit and integration testing on ETL codebases to ensure alignment with business rules and system logic
Manage data repositories and CI/CD pipelines to support governed, repeatable deployment of data assets
Enforce data quality standards through automated metadata capture, monitoring, and technical lineage mapping
Validate data integration points to ensure SQL logic accurately reflects source system states
Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Risk teams to translate control requirements into technical ETL specifications
Identify pipeline bottlenecks and implement Python-based automation to reduce manual data processes
Communicate data risks, discrepancies, and remediation plans clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in a technical or quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field)
Proven experience building and supporting ETL pipelines in production environments
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for data transformation, validation, and testing
Hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake, DynamoDB, or Cassandra
Preferred
Experience building automated data quality or ETL testing frameworks
Hands-on experience with AWS services including S3, Glue, Lambda, and IAM
Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or Prefect
Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines (Git, GitHub, GitLab)
Strong experience transforming and validating unstructured data (JSON) for structured analytics and reporting
