Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership, training, and guidance to assigned staff and coordinate, prioritize, and monitor daily work assignments to ensure tasks are completed safely and in accordance with established procedures
Perform advanced maintenance, repair, installation, and inspection of water utility infrastructure, including pipelines, valves, hydrants, meters, storm drains, and related facilities within the assigned specialty
Respond to customer inquiries, service requests, and complaints. Investigate issues and implement corrective actions as appropriate
Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with City standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines
Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles used in utilities maintenance activities
Prepare, review, and maintain accurate records, reports, work orders, and other documentation related to maintenance and operations
Ensure compliance with safety rules, confined space requirements, traffic control standards, and other applicable regulations
Responsible for preparing, inputting, and submitting a wide range of state-mandated and annual reports for the State of California (CIWQS)
Respond to emergency situations, including after-hours call-outs, and provide on-site leadership during emergency repairs
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required

Required

Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in one or more areas of water system operations, including distribution, customer service, metering, collections, or storm drain systems
High school graduation or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency
Possession of a State Water Resources Control Board Grade II Water Distribution (D2) Operator certificate is required at time of application
A valid California Class B driver's license, acceptable driving record, and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance program
Possession of a California Water Environment Association Collection System Maintenance Level 2 (C2) certificate within one (1) year of appointment
Provide coverage outside of normal work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, responding to emergency calls on short notice

Retirement Plan: California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) Classic Member 2% @ 55 PEPRA 2% @ 62
Disability Insurance: City paid Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) through Lincoln Financial.
Deferred Compensation 457(b) Plan: All employees in this unit are eligible to contribute to this voluntary plan.
Tuition Reimbursement: $5,000 per fiscal year.
