Responsibilities

Conducts aerospace Reliability and Maintainability analysis
Supports R&M Program Plan Reliability Predictions following MIL-HDBK-217 and/or 217PLUS reliability prediction standards
Conducts Failure Modes and Effects (FMEA) / Criticality Analysis (CA) Planning and conducting reliability testing, including Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT), Reliability Enhancement Test (RET), Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) or Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS)
Runs Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS), including root cause analysis Maintainability analysis and predictions Built-In Test (BIT) design/verification analysis BIT / Maintainability Demonstration
Analyzes and predict the reliability of military systems and equipment by identifying potential failure modes
Conducts riot cause analysis and implementing design improvements to ensure mission success by maximizing system uptime and minimizing failures throughout the lifecycle
Adheres to strict customer driven reliability standards and guidelines
Reduces cost and schedule risks by preventing or identifying R&M deficiencies early in development. This early action results in increased acquisition efficiency and higher success rates during operational testing and the development process
Failure analysis: Performing detailed investigations into equipment failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
Reliability prediction: Utilizing statistical methods and reliability modeling tools to predict the likelihood of system failures and identify critical components
Design review: Collaborating with design engineers to assess the reliability of proposed designs and suggest improvements to enhance system robustness
FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis): Conducting FMEA to proactively identify potential failure modes and their consequences, prioritizing mitigation strategies
Stress analysis: Performing stress analysis on components to identify potential weak points and design margins
Data analysis: Collecting and analyzing failure data to identify trends and patterns, informing preventative maintenance strategies
Reliability testing: Designing and executing reliability tests to validate system performance under various environmental conditions
Maintainability analysis: Contributing to design decisions to ensure easy maintenance and repair of equipment in the field
Life cycle cost analysis: Assessing the impact of reliability on system life cycle costs
