The Accounting Specialist II provides comprehensive operational support to the finance department by managing the accounts payable process and supporting other accounting functions as needed.

Responsibilities

Process all Accounts Payable functions for the authority including the following:

Process and ensure proper coding of purchase quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and credit card transactions

Maintain vendor files and accounts payable ledgers

Reconcile monthly billing statements from vendors

Process and issue payments through accounting and banking software

Maintain and monitor Authority expense accounts

Have the ability to process all Accounts Receivable functions as a backup including:

Maintain customer profiles

Generate monthly and periodic invoices for Authority customers

Monitor customer accounts and coordinate payment on customer balances

Prepare monthly accruals and assist with general ledger journal entries

Assist with preparation of financial reports and budget monitoring

Adhere to all Authority personnel policies and departmental guidelines

Perform other duties as assigned and directed

Required

Knowledge of accounting procedures is required

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is required

Excellent organizational, analytical and time-management skills

Demonstrated excellent customer service skills

Familiarity with procurement policies and compliance requirements

Minimum of three years' accounting experience

Ability to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge as may be required by assigned job duties and responsibilities
