Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day database operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning (CPU load, locks, blocking, long-running queries, etc.)
Implement and maintain logical and physical backup/restore strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
Perform minor and major PostgreSQL version upgrades
Design, configure, and support database replication and high-availability solutions
Conduct routine maintenance activities such as vacuum, analyze, reindex, and patching
Configure PostgreSQL parameters, system catalogs, and performance views for optimal efficiency
Administer multi-terabyte, high-performance production databases
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and support large-scale, mission-critical database infrastructure
Automate database operations and monitoring using Shell/Python scripting
Deploy and manage PostgreSQL in cloud environments (AWS RDS/EC2, GCP)
Utilize HADR tools such as Repmgr, Pgpool, and pgBackRest
Work with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes
Stay current with emerging technologies and independently adapt solutions to evolving business needs

Required

Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internal components
Hands-on experience with backup/restore strategies and PITR
Proven expertise in PostgreSQL upgrades and replication
Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL configuration, catalogs, and performance tuning
Experience with cloud-based PostgreSQL deployments (AWS/GCP)
Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python)
Solid exposure to Kubernetes and container orchestration
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to thrive in high-volume, mission-critical environments
