Assistant City Engineer-Transportation
City of Smyrna, GA Government is responsible for managing the city's traffic engineering operations. The Assistant City Engineer-Transportation will assist in planning, organizing, and directing traffic-related projects and operations, ensuring compliance with city standards and addressing community concerns regarding transportation issues.

Responsibilities
Responds to questions and concerns from the community related to transportation, traffic signals, and other related issues
Troubleshoots and resolves traffic signal issues
Reviews plans for new developments to ensure compliance with city ordinances and city standards regarding traffic and transportation related scope of work
Reviews traffic volume and speed data collected from speed radar signs to determine the need for traffic calming measures
Updates and maintains school flashers
Coordinates with the Traffic Signal Technician concerning the placement of stop signs and other regulatory signage
Reviews traffic studies and signal warrant studies for new developments
Coordinates with the City Engineer for revisions to city ordinances as required by state and federal environmental regulations
Performs other assigned duties
Qualification
Required
Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required
More than four years of related experience required
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Certification as an Engineer in Training
Ability to pass a criminal background and credit check
Ability to pass a post-offer drug screen
Preferred
Certification as a Professional Engineer
IMSA Traffic Signal Field Technician Level II
