Data Manager

Second Mile Education is seeking a Data Manager who will ensure that accurate records are submitted for FTE survey periods and verify student funding eligibility. The role involves oversight, support, training, and monitoring of student data input in compliance with various policies and procedures.

Education

Responsibilities

Work with the Director of FTE and Student Accounting or other members of the Office of School Operations to develop and conduct training sessions on correct FTE reporting and assist with managing attendance data, withdrawal management and other relevant topics
Monitor truancy program related to withdrawal procedures per District requirement
Monitor withdrawals in MIS / STARS throughout the school year
Maintain a working knowledge of all state and local graduation requirements
Attend district and Florida DOE trainings related to job responsibilities
Monitor accuracy of all schools’ Master Schedules
Assist in keeping the DPRP Procedures Manual up to date as changes are approved and prior to implementation
Assist Director of FTE and Student Accounting by pulling reports from the MIS noting percentages of students that qualify for free and reduced meals
Monitor Out-of-Field teaching assignment waiver(s) are submitted and approved before FTE
Verify the accuracy of student data bases, including the transportation field and archives
Verify the students’ schedules correspond with the student’s academic program and students are assigned the correct number of courses to meet FTE requirements and ensure room numbers match the school’s physical layout and other data reports
Perform cross checks to verify accuracy and consistency of all records across both systems
Review, as applicable, required reports and ensure schools maintain all appropriate records in accordance with school and district procedures
Assist the Director of Accountability and Assessment with compiling data (e.g., academic demographic, assessment, evaluation, instructional software, etc.) Ensure Data Specialists update students’ schedule in a timely, accurate manner
Review FTE figures and ensure that the schools’ administrators have made any necessary adjustments to incorrect records
Under the supervision of the Director of FTE and Student Accounting, work with members of the Office of School Operations, the Finance Department and regional leadership in meeting company’s and schools’ goals. When necessary, organize and conduct annual FTE audit; ensure that data is collected and summarized for auditors; interpret and explain state rules and regulations governing FTE reporting activities
Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others
During periods of critical personnel shortage or other emergency situation, shall temporarily perform any duties, as directed

Required

High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Ability to travel for up to a week at a time especially during critical periods
A minimum of three year's experience working with data/records
Demonstrated competency in the following areas: 1) analyze data to determine accuracy and validity of data; 2) use spreadsheet software to manipulate data; 3) read, interpret and follow appropriate protocol for data reporting; 4) develop systems for working efficiently with large amounts of data; and 5) accurate reporting of information and data
Knowledge of software applications used to maintain databases and the ability to manage data
Prior knowledge of and experience with multiple Florida MISs
Knowledge of course requirements and graduation requirements for grades 9 through 12
Demonstrated competency in the following ability and skill areas; independent worker, team player, analytical thinker, prioritization of tasks; follow through and interpersonal skills
Excellent attention to detail
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Excellent organizational skills
Experience working in an educational setting

Preferred

Bachelor's degree preferred
Bilingual in local languages preferred
