Responsibilities

Assist in design, construction, and inspection of road, traffic, bridge, and culvert projects
Assist Traffic, Bridge, and Design/Construction Engineers with data collection, field observations, analyses, and reporting as directed
Perform daily inspections and generate the necessary paperwork for projects
Inspect construction of streets in new plats
Coordinate with contractors, public agencies, utility companies, and general public to solve the problems that arise during the course of design and construction
Make daily reports and pay estimates on contractors’ work
Assist with final payments on construction projects and completing project records
Determine work to be done and give direction as needed in the construction of roads, bridges, and culverts
Complete and maintain administration/training requirements related to the position
Take charge or assist in project planning and enforcement of regulations

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
Project management and organizational skills

A valid Michigan Driver's License

Preferred

Transportation interest/focus
Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion with a track to obtain the Michigan registered Professional Engineer (PE) license

Stormwater Operator Certification
ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level I
MCA/ACI Concrete Testing Levels I & II
HMA Level I
MDOT Office Technician Certification
FHWA Safety inspection of in-service bridges certification
