Mechanical Engineering Lead

Responsibilities
Lead a small team of 3-5 engineers performing a scope of work
Coordinate and resolve technical issues in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work products
Support development of project cost and schedule estimates
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unitor staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications
Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
When delegated, provides guidance to other mechanical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects
Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues
Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution
Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members
Completes mechanical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance
Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
Qualification
Required
Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical (or related) Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant professional work experience
Related experience includes, but is not limited to, experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, fluid system design, hydraulic, heat transfer, and thermodynamic calculations, and equipment specification and design development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards
Hands-on Microsoft office programs and other computer programs
Extensive knowledge and application of ANSI/ASME Codes and Standards including ASME B31.1 or B31.3
Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering work processes, procedures, and specifications
Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills
Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards
Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000
Previous Bechtel and/or DOD or DOE project experience
U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
