Lead Prosthetic Clerk

Responsibilities
Ensure that the organizations strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the teams strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services. Articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion. Coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures, and assist the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution
Lead the team in: identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization; making adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks; and ensuring that each employee has an integral role in developing the final team product
Train or arrange for the training of team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects, and provide or arrange for specific administrative or technical training necessary for accomplishment of individual and team tasks
Incumbent provides administrative support to the Chief of PSAS, Assistant Chief of PSAS, Prosthetic Representatives (including Supervisory Reps) and support staff. Work is under the direct administrative supervision of the Assistant Chief
Implements procedures and system for the handling and receiving Prosthetic items in the warehouse and document the electronic equipment of patients. Screens incoming correspondence and determines items that are of a routine nature. Prepares and types a variety of material from rough draft or clean copy ensuring proper format and grammatical accuracy
Maintains time and attendance records for PSAS personnel
Takes care of routine matters, internal procedures, and current work status. Refers other inquiries to appropriate personnel. Personally responds to routine and non-technical requests for information such as status reports, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance and similar information readily available from the files
The incumbent communicates with local vendors and Prosthetic staff to expedite processing of consults/order for service delivery. They will restock Prosthetic clinical areas with devices and equipment to ensure consistent workflow and Veteran care management. They will issue items from Prosthetic Stock and post to the veteran's Prosthetic Record (2319) by using the Suspense record in the VistA system
The incumbent answers phone calls and assists the Inventory Manager with locating and itemizing inventory received and delivered
Reviews consults for eligibility and acts as needed. Forward consults to other clinics as appropriate. Sorts and distributes printed consults to the appropriate purchasing agents for items that must be ordered (non-stock or out of stock items)
The incumbent will prioritize mailing out Prosthetic items need for continuum of care
Assists with the Prosthetic specialty programs as needed
Posts items issued from CBOC's including Tyler, Garland, Ft. Worth and Bonham and any items issued during CPAP Clinic

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization
There is no educational substitution at this grade level
Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications
