Responsibilities

Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GTAW and automated orbital welding systems. Lead the selection, integration, and optimization of power supplies, welding techniques, and custom fixturing
Design, develop, and validate weld procedures (WPS) and parameters (PQR) to meet stringent industry standards and customer specifications
Transition R&D concepts into scalable, high-volume production environments. Manage the qualification of new equipment and processes on the shop floor
Partner with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to manage root-cause analysis (RCA) and lead continuous improvement initiatives (Six Sigma/Lean) to enhance weld quality and throughput
Act as a technical consultant for customers, providing expert feedback on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and offering specialized weld design recommendations

Required

Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)
Strong background in automated orbital welding systems and associated power supplies
Extensive experience working with stainless steel and high-performance alloys
Proven ability to lead root-cause investigations and process troubleshooting in a manufacturing setting
Ability to interface professionally with external clients and internal production teams
TIG / GTAW / Orbital: 4 years (Required)
Welding Process Improvement: 4 years (Required)

Preferred

Experience in a Contract Manufacturing (CMO) environment
Knowledge of weld validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) within regulated industries (e.g., Medical Device, Aerospace, or Semiconductor)
Familiarity with CAD software for fixture design
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) status
