Responsibilities
Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale
Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide
Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low
Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues
Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology
Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
Preferred
Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations
Experience creating long-haul optical designs using vendor design tools, applying technical acumen to a given optical design, translating to bits on the wire
Experience in NPI and writing test plan documents in lab or staging environment
Understanding of optical design trade-offs, with the knowledge of TL1/CLI automation
Ability to identify repetitive work and propose automation for workflow
