Accountant or Senior Accountant
The City of Tallahassee is seeking qualified applicants to fill either an Accountant or Senior Accountant position within the Financial Services Department. The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial records, ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards, and coordinating external audits.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Perform complex governmental and fund accounting work in alignment with GAAP and GAAFR standards
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements with a high degree of accuracy
Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and apply appropriate corrective action
Support accounting system operations, including modules, integrations and financial applications
Assist with internal/external audits, monthly and quarterly reporting, regulatory submissions and compliance documentation
Help support grants and project accounting by reviewing transactions, monitoring revenues and preparing required schedules
Work independently on assigned projects, with work reviewed through audits, reporting outcomes and internal checks
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's in accounting, finance or related field
4+ years of professional accounting, grant administration, budgeting or finance experience for Accountant
7+ years of professional accounting, grant administration, budgeting or finance experience for Senior Accountant
A master's degree or CPA, CGFM or CPFO certification may substitute for required experience
