Responsibilities
Uses range pole or level rod to establish vertical and horizontal control
Sets grade stakes for construction projects
Inspects various construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications
Reads, interprets and understands construction plans and specifications
Maintains effective communication with the contractor, public and other employees
Performs basic engineering calculations and functions
Operates a motor vehicle
Maintains accurate notes and records
Performs miscellaneous inspection related tasks
Performs maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Performs miscellaneous survey related tasks
Operates a City vehicle
Qualification
Required
Ability to traverse construction sites to perform inspection duties
Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and functions
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to perform manual labor under varying weather conditions
Ability to deal with the public in a courteous manner
Must be able to provide own steel toed shoes
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must be at least eighteen years of age
