The Commonwealth of Kentucky is looking for an Engineer-In-Training II to join the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. This role involves performing intermediately complex engineering work on various projects while gaining practical skills under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer.

Responsibilities

Reviews, analyzes and performs intermediately complex engineering to develop practical skills within the specialized area of planning, design, structures, bridge maintenance, and asphalt foundation to ensure compliance with all necessary guidelines
Learns under the direct supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer
Oversees portions of specific engineering related functional areas to analyze data and ensure conformance to approved plans and engineering standards
Reviews roadways construction plans for accuracy and interprets and recommends changes when necessary
Prepares maintenance project costs estimates
Coordinate and oversee construction and engineering work performed by technical and sub-professional personnel
Assist supervisor in completing maintenance activities and various office duties

Bachelor's degree in EngineeringEngineer-In-Training certificationEngineering experienceProject multitaskingComputer proficiencyTeamworkCommunication skills

Required

Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering
Must have two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training
Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification
Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification
