Responsibilities
Be responsible for defining the strategic vision, overseeing the development, and managing the growth of an organization's autonomous AI systems and platforms
Provide technical leadership for the design, development, testing and deployment of agentic workflows across Capital One
Develop and execute the strategic vision and roadmap for the agentic AI platform, ensuring it aligns with organizational priorities
Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of the platform, from development and integration of AI solutions to sunsetting legacy offerings
Guide technical teams, set best practices for AI orchestration, MLOps, and application development, and ensure platform scalability and reliability
Work with senior leaders, product management, sales, and other engineering teams to align the platform's capabilities with business goals
Act as a champion for the platform, articulating its strategic value to senior stakeholders and influencing enterprise decision-making
Foster a culture of innovation and drive the adoption of AI-powered tools across the organization
Ensure the platform is developed and deployed in compliance with industry regulations and ethical AI best practice
Set a strategic roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the platform's compliance with ethical and regulatory standards
Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that change how our associates work and how our customers interact with Capital One
Advise on the selection of technologies, programming languages, AI/ML models, orchestration engines, and deployment platforms
Make high judgment build-vs-buy decisions across a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies
Contribute to the technical vision and the long term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One
Attract and retain top talent in the AI industry and nurture personal and professional development for your team. Foster a culture of learning and staying abreast of the state-of-the-art in AI
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 8 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
At least 3 years of people leadership experience
Preferred
5 years of experience managing and leading an engineering team
7 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud)
Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies (e.g. LLM Inference, Similarity Search and VectorDBs, Guardrails, Memory) using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang
Passion for staying abreast of the latest AI research and AI systems, and judiciously apply novel techniques in production
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts to peers
