Responsibilities
Directly or indirectly supervises 15 to 45 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill vacant positions within the Mechanical Engineering Group
Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures
Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products
Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests
Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations and or inter departmental relations
Provides direction and acts as an example in the application of company policies and procedures
Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly
Exhibits and practices professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers
Interacts within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments
Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products
Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks
Accountable for department execution of submitted budgets and hours estimates
Accountable for department accomplishment of all project tasks in accordance with published project schedules
Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance
Coach, resolve conflict and correct action as needed to solve performance related issues
Monitor and measure team progress against business plan and recommend changes as needed
Establish staff performance expectations and provide regular feedback from both informal and scheduled reviews
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical or business discipline
10 years experience
Word processing, Spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, Understanding of Mechanical engineering practices and standards. AutoCAD, Solid Works, etc
