Responsibilities
Review, process, and manage daily pharmacy and medical prior authorization requests
Conduct case reviews using automated PA tools and guide cases through approval or denial workflows
Ensure coverage determinations and member notifications meet regulatory, accreditation, and turnaround time requirements
Provide clinical support for drug prior authorizations and collaborate with Medical Directors on cases that do not meet coverage criteria
Communicate daily with providers and external partners regarding case status and outcomes
Address quality issues related to pharmacy technician work and collaborate with other clinical pharmacists on review questions
Partner with UM staff and providers to resolve policy interpretation, access, or quality assurance concerns
Support additional projects and duties as assigned by UM leadership
Qualification
Required
Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy
Strong understanding of utilization management workflows and compliance requirements
Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
Ability to manage workload independently in a remote environment
Preferred
Prior experience with pharmacy or medical prior authorization reviews preferred
