Director Commercial Strategy & Operations

Responsibilities
Define and maintain GDH Commercial Excellence thinking, and assess commercial and go-to-market maturity across the portfolio
Partner with GDH and division leadership to identify the highest-impact commercial opportunities and translate insights into clear, prioritized improvement roadmaps
Support portfolio companies in building and refining their market and customer segmentation strategies, including market sizing, priority segment definition, and target customer profiles
Design and support go-to-market strategies tailored to each division’s industry, customer base, and stage of commercial maturity
Enable practical GTM execution, ensuring strategies translate into clear sales motions, processes, and on-the-ground actions
Support the design, selection, and adoption of CRM and commercial tooling, ensuring systems serve the business and improve visibility, discipline, and execution
Establish leading indicators and forward-looking metrics that provide insight into pipeline health, conversion efficiency, and key drivers of future revenue
Drive data-driven commercial decision-making by synthesizing market, customer, and performance data into actionable insights
Act as a trusted thought partner to GDH leadership and division leadership and commercial teams
Work cross-functionally to align commercial and growth strategies with operational capabilities and constraints
Balance hands-on execution support with solutions embedding and capability-building to ensure improvements are adopted and sustained
Manage multiple commercial initiatives simultaneously across multiple businesses at varying levels of scale and maturity
Qualification
Required
8–12+ years of experience across commercial strategy, go-to-market, revenue operations, corporate strategy, consulting, or operating roles, with direct exposure to revenue-generating functions
Demonstrated experience building, fixing, or scaling sales and GTM engines, including segmentation, sales motions, pipeline management, and performance tracking
Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate imperfect data into clear, practical commercial actions
Comfort operating in dynamic, changing environments with incomplete data and evolving priorities
High degree of commercial judgment and business acumen, with an intuitive understanding of how revenue is generated, advanced, and converted
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior operators without chain-of-command authority
Self-directed, high-ownership mindset with strong project management discipline and the ability to drive multiple initiatives in parallel
Preferred
Experience working across multiple industries or lines of business, where commercial strategy and execution vary meaningfully by market, customer, or operating model
Experience leading or supporting CRM and commercial tooling implementations, with a focus on practical adoption, process alignment, and improved sales discipline
Experience in structured problem-solving or strategy roles, with demonstrated success implementing solutions in operating environments
Experience partnering with or operating within historically founder-led, family-owned, or private equity–backed businesses, where influence, adaptability, and practical execution are critical
