Shelter Corporation is seeking an Area Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair apartment communities with a strong emphasis on customer service. The role involves completing maintenance requests, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the upkeep of the properties.

Responsibilities

Complete maintenance requests in a timely manner, including the hands-on work of all building repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep of the asset

Maintain exterior grounds, including picking up trash and keeping common areas neat, sweeping sidewalks and curbs, watering trees, shrubs and flowerbeds, and snow removal and salting/sanding walkways

Assisting Maintenance Ambassador in prioritizing all work orders

Assisting Maintenance Ambassador in scheduling all maintenance for buildings and building equipment

Ensuring timely and thorough completion of preparing vacant units for new residents, including painting, cleaning, carpet shampooing, and repairs

Assisting Maintenance Ambassador in maintaining sufficient maintenance supplies

Performing emergency repairs after hours according to the On-call Maintenance Schedule

Reporting any and all maintenance and safety concerns to the Maintenance Ambassador in a timely manner

Utilizing technology to track work performed, including records of any follow-up or additional resources needed

Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Basic experience in all phases of building maintenance including but not limited to appliance repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventative maintenance

Ability to obtain 2-C Boilers within first year of employment if not already licensed

Reliable personal transportation with an ability to travel to Eagan

Ability to maintain an appropriate driving record

Willingness to travel throughout the metro in a shared company vehicle

Knowledge in the areas of appliance installation and repair, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and fire/life/safety systems

Excellent time management skills

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people

Ability to demonstrate good judgment and problem solving skills

Ability to self-direct as well as work effectively on a team

Willingness to obtain new skills in multiple maintenance areas

Ability to effectively use and learn technology platforms

Exceptional customer service and communication skills
