Benefits & Leave Specialist
Talent Acquisition LLC is seeking a Benefits & Leave Specialist to administer and support the organization’s core benefits and leave programs. This role involves providing guidance to employees, ensuring compliance with laws and policies, and managing day-to-day benefits administration in a professional services environment.
Responsibilities
Administer multiple firm benefits programs, including FMLA, leaves of absence, domestic partner benefits, retiree benefits, commuter benefits, and backup dependent/elder care programs
Provide guidance and counseling to employees regarding benefits programs, including conducting new hire benefits orientations and responding to benefits-related inquiries
Serve as a liaison with the Payroll department regarding benefit deductions, leave tracking, workers’ compensation payments, and paid/unpaid leaves of absence
Communicate with insurance carriers and third-party vendors to ensure accurate and timely benefits administration and resolve employee questions or issues
Maintain benefits data and prepare reports related to workers’ compensation, FMLA usage, and leaves of absence
Prepare benefits termination packets and conduct benefits-related exit interviews
Process benefits invoices, including reconciliation and auditing of monthly benefits bills within established deadlines
Stay current on applicable benefits laws, regulations, and best practices; recommend updates or enhancements to benefits programs and policies as appropriate
Ensure benefits and retirement records are maintained in compliance with internal procedures and legal requirements
Coordinate and support special benefits initiatives, including open enrollment, benefits fairs, wellness programs, and benefits education meetings
Prepare communications for benefits-related events, programs, and seminars
Maintain and update employee benefits materials, including benefits booklets, brochures, and intranet content
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
Three (3) to four (4) years of experience in benefits administration or coordination; experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and employment laws affecting benefits administration
Experience gathering and analyzing benefits data and making sound recommendations related to program design and improvements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including strong proofreading and editing abilities
Exceptional customer service skills with a high level of follow-through and responsiveness
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to anticipate needs, synthesize data, identify trends, and adapt to changing priorities
Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive information
Preferred
Professional certification such as PHR or CEBS preferred
Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
Working knowledge of HRIS and database systems; experience with platforms such as Ceridian Dayforce and SharePoint preferred
