Cost Accountant

Spanco is a leading manufacturer of high-quality industrial material handling and fall protection solutions. As a Cost Accountant, you will analyze manufacturing costs, prepare cost reports, and collaborate with various teams to optimize production processes.

Responsibilities

Analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead
Maintain and update standard cost systems across all company locations
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management review
Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities related to production and inventory
Monitor inventory valuation
Monitor inventory performance, and make recommendations regarding obsolete and slow-moving inventory
Support pricing decisions and margin analysis for new and existing products; periodically review changes to confirm they are attaining expected results
Collaborate with plant managers and supply chain teams to identify cost-saving opportunities

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and ERP systems
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), GL detail, journal entries
Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Experience with multi-site operations is a plus
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Must be organized, self-starting, and detail oriented
Must be able to present communications and e-mails in a professional manner both inside and outside the company
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Aptitude and personality assessments

Preferred

CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required
Experience with Made 2 Manage is a plus but not required
