Chief People Officer

Responsibilities

Co-leads (with the Patient Experience Officer) the organization’s 'People Committee', which develops and executes strategic initiatives to support the ongoing enhancement of our culture
Leads organization-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts
Leads strategic workforce planning initiatives
As invited by senior leadership and Board designated committees, provides for market competitive senior executive compensation and benefits programs and policies
Leads and facilitates assigned human resource related executive meetings
Empowers organizational leaders through proactive advising, coaching, and training to improve individual and team performance
Leads the development of strategies to promote team member recognition, engagement, wellness and resilience
Provides leadership and oversight for human resource services, talent management, compensation, benefits, and occupational health programs
Develops and administers policies and procedures related to human resources and occupational health activities
Provides for the investigation and resolution of human resource related disputes between managers and employees
Creates processes to measure and analyze the effectiveness of people-related programs and processes
Develops internal and external communication materials that are clear, timely, and meet the needs of the intended audience
Ensures compliance with all Human Resources and Occupational Health related regulatory requirements
Manages vendor service agreements to ensure optimal productivity and performance
Assists in coordinating employee activities and other HR projects and programs
Independently carries out and is accountable for daily operations and other assigned activities

Required

Professional knowledge of areas of responsibility to include theory, practice and administration in order to direct planning and implementation
Ability to prepare reports, policies and budgets at a level normally acquired through completion of a Master's degree in a relevant field
Requires approximately ten to fifteen years progressively responsible related work experience, at least seven of which have been in a management role
Experience with corporate-level HR administration, such as executive compensation and benefits design, is critical
Working knowledge of human resources programs, occupational health, employment law and regulatory compliance
Strong skills in planning, organizing and handling multiple tasks
Leadership acumen to organize and oversee work of subordinates
Superior written and verbal communications skills
High level analytical skills sufficient to evaluate workforce data and trends
Advanced user level of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and other applicable software
Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license and be able to meet the insurance requirements of the hospital, if required by position

Preferred

SPHR or CHHR certification preferred
