Responsibilities

Provides comprehensive mental health assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy services to women Veterans across the lifespan, with emphasis on reproductive, perinatal, postpartum, infertility, menopause, sexual health, and trauma-related concerns
Delivers individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities
Conducts risk, behavioral, and psychosocial assessments
Collaborates closely with interdisciplinary medical teams including gynecology, primary care, and maternity care
Supports patients and families coping with complex medical and psychological conditions
Includes care coordination, patient and family education, clinical documentation, use of telehealth, adherence to ethical and legal standards, attention to age and cultural factors, and protection of sensitive health information
Practices at an entry level under close clinical supervision and does not independently practice
Focuses on developing core competencies in intake, diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of counseling services
Emphasizes learning and applying foundational counseling skills, basic DSM use, and standard evidence-based interventions
No assigned administrative program management responsibilities
Does not provide clinical supervision to other staff
Independently practices at the full performance level with greater clinical autonomy
Provides clinical supervision to unlicensed LPMHCs or trainees, when permitted by state licensure
Assumes administrative and programmatic responsibilities, including clinical program management, coordination across mental health and primary care programs, and oversight of program resources
Serves as a psychology service representative on committees at service line, system, or VISN levels
Provides advanced consultation to colleagues and trainees and manages more complex clinical decision-making and crisis interventions

Master's or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; OR A related field, from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to independently practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor, which includes diagnosis and treatment

Preferred

Experience or training in an interdisciplinary mental health setting or clinic that serve adults
Entry level experience or training working with a variety of mental health patients and diagnoses
Ability to perform intake evaluations, diagnose, create treatment plans with identifiable goals
Ability to provide wide range of psychotherapeutic treatments such as individual and groups therapies
Experience with medical record documentation
Experience with crisis interventions, risk assessments
Minimum of 3 years' experience working in an interdisciplinary mental health setting or clinic that serve primarily adults
Experience consulting with colleagues on mental health issues in a team setting
Ability to provide a wide range of psychotherapeutic treatments such as individual and group therapies for a variety of mental health diagnoses
Experience with medical record documentation and utilization of the DSM
Experience in providing complex crisis interventions, risk assessments and managing high risk populations
