Athens Services is seeking an Accounting Supervisor who will be responsible for supporting the monthly close and supervising staff and senior accountants. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, leading components of the close process, and implementing process improvements across accounting operations.

Responsibilities

Lead assigned components of the monthly and year-end close in accordance with established timelines

Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and data uploads for accuracy and completeness

Review account reconciliations and monthly account analyses prepared by staff and senior accountants

Investigate and explain material variances and fluctuations

Proactively identify, recommend, and implement process improvements that enhance close efficiency, data accuracy, internal controls, and scalability across accounting operations

Ensure consistency and integrity of data between the general ledger and source systems

Support preparation of monthly financial reporting and executive deliverables

Perform ad hoc analysis as requested

Prepare audit schedules and documentation

Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies

Support enforcement of capitalization and expenditure policies

Assist with maintaining accounting procedures and controls

Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and technical guidance

Review work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to accounting policies

Support onboarding and development of team members
