Responsibilities

To receive, record, and monitor all raw products coming into the meat bay
Directs semitrucks to proper unloading bay and undo the trailer’s tail gate latches to ensure trailer is ready for unloading
Visually inspects product for any foreign material, removes it, and notifies supervisor
Read, understand and follow all Standard Work Instructions (S.W.I.) and Training within Industry (T.W.I.) utilizing Lean rules and principles
Work safely following all Simmons policies and requirements
Direct incoming end dump trailer loads to proper unloading pits
Wash out inside and tops of trailers after loads are dumped
Keep meat bay area clean and uncluttered through-out your shift
Accomplish any other related duties as directed by shift supervisor
Complete all forms in department
Performs essential position responsibilities with little or no supervision
Clean out and prime pit pump
Ability to realize hazards and take precautions
Participates as a member of the Team
Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members
Attends appropriate team meetings
As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger Organization
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives

Ability to work in a wet, noisy, humid, hot or cold environment
Ability to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift
Requires frequent bending and kneeling
Ability to climb a height of 12 feet into an open top trailer and wash out inside the trailer
Ability to wear fall arrest harness the entire shift
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs occasionally
Ability to shovel product from floor level to shoulder level occasionally
Good penmanship for paperwork
Good balance and not afraid of heights
Arm strength and upper body strength due to frequently climbing the trailer and handling hoses
Good communication skills
High safety awareness
Ability to pull and position high pressure wash down hoses more than 10 hours per shift
Ability to pass a fit test, physical, and pulmonary (lung capacity) function test
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Equipment: Hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, and H2S monitor
