ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I - TEMPORARY - Range 9 / AMEA
The Municipality of Anchorage is seeking an Engineering Technician I for a temporary position in the Traffic Engineering Department. This role involves assisting with the installation and maintenance of traffic data collection systems and conducting traffic studies.

Responsibilities
Under general supervision, assists with field installation, monitoring, retrieval, and maintenance of traffic data collection systems and computer databases
Works in and around heavy traffic during extended periods of time in various weather conditions
Performs traffic studies including vehicle counts, stop-and-delay studies, gap studies, radar checks, and pedestrian zone evaluations; compile and edit data; file and maintain records, and perform other related duties
Investigates requests for traffic information
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and eighteen (18) months experience in one or more of the following fields: drafting, surveying, inspection, materials testing, plan review, permitting, computerized mapping, computer assisted design (CAD), traffic signal control, code enforcement, customer service representative, and/or a related field
OR High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and successful completion of at least three (3) courses in any combination of geometry, drafting, surveying (Geomatics) or Right of Way (ROW)
Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire
Satisfactory Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check within 6 months of hire
Preferred
Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees
