Responsibilities

Perform engineering analysis (stress, FEA, fatigue) and apply problem-solving methods to support new product development and/or sustaining production of existing designs
Create new designs for conformance to customer requirements & and proper application of engineering principles
Apply, evaluate, and optimize Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to facilitate inspection and manufacturing
Write test plans and test reports in support of new programs to demonstrate compliance to customer specifications
Interact with customers to clarify design intent and technical requirements
Maintain accurate, orderly project records, including design and test data, customer specifications, directives, etc
Direct designers & drafters in design concepts and optimization to meet strict deadlines
Provide engineering assistance on development and qualification test programs
Provide engineering assistance to members on the Material Review Board (MRB) to facilitate disposition of non-conforming products

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
1+ year(s) engineering experience in any/all aspects of a product's lifecycle – from initial design phase, through procurement and testing of a prototype, transition to production phase, and involvement in long term product support
+ A lower level of experience combined with an advanced degree may be considered
Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA), ANSYS preferred
Familiarity with Geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T)
Working knowledge of 3D modeling software (Pro/Engineer or CREO preferred)
Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and organizational skills
Excellent MS Office skills
Mathcad, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW software familiarity
Self-starter who demonstrates a sense of urgency in meeting customer expectations and delivering results
Ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical problems and communicate in clear simple terms
Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Citizen
Employees will participate in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100 and/or ISO-9001 requirements
The employee will be required to move throughout the building to collect, handle and process production parts

Preferred

Highly Valued - Work experience directly related to hydraulic and/or electromechanical component design and/or manufacture & test (servos, actuators, control valves, manifolds, etc...)
Highly Valued - Familiarity with electronic and/or hydraulic control system design
Prior ANSYS and CREO experience
Prior solid mechanics background
Prior experience using MATLAB, Simulink or similar coding languages
Prior exposure to common machining practices and/or metal forming methods & processes
Familiarity with fatigue analysis, fastener analysis, and material & process control
Electrical and/or Mechanical hands-on aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects
Familiarity with DMAIC (or equivalent) problem solving methodology
