The Accountant II position in the Property Accounting organization is responsible for assisting with the fixed assets team to ensure accurate accounting of assets throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Prepare unitizations for assets placed in service
Prepare FERC Reporting to meet quarterly and yearly regulatory requirements
Prepare adjusting journal entries to appropriately reclass and correct assets as necessary
Assist with other projects as requested within the Property Accounting group
Analyze and/or prepare journal entries, reports, budgets, and records related to financial accounting, gas accounting, or economic forecasting/budgeting
Perform calculations and/or analyses including but not limited to:
Interest
Cash flow
Financial ratios
Pressure base/Btu conversions
Discounts
Variances
Depreciations (book/tax)
Projections/forecasts
Assist in development and maintenance of applicable spreadsheet models and/or distributed applications such as those used in finance and other accounting activities
Compile, verify, and/or prepare financial information including but not limited to:
Forecasted versus actual expenses
Governmental/regulatory reports
Invoices
Financial reports
Reconciliation reports
Quarterly income statements
Provide information and assistance to employees from governmental and/or regulatory agencies, auditing firms, management, and others concerning accounting processes and various financial reports

Required

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other related field with previous experience working in various accounting functions or equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related experience: Accounting
Experience with and knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and procedures
Experience performing an intermediate level of accounting activities such as financial accounting, property accounting, account classification, or gas accounting
Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software
Experience and/or training related to: Financial accounting and reporting standards and processes (specified by position)
Experience and/or training related to: Economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions (specified by position)
Experience and/or training related to: Gas accounting activities and terminology (specified by position)
Experience and/or training related to: Communication/interpersonal skills
Experience researching, composing, reconciling, and preparing reports, invoices, studies, and correspondence applicable to position
Experience reading and interpreting company correspondence, reports, accounting-related publications, income statements, contracts, ledgers, manuals, computer printouts, and legal documents
Ability to: interact, advise and communicate effectively
Ability to: develop and present information to individuals and groups
Ability to: communicate and/or exchange information; conduct oral presentations
Ability to: apply math, algebra, and statistical methods
