Responsibilities
Provide automation support for multiple operating areas and major capital projects to ensure right-first-time facility startup
Lead and oversee the work of Site Area leads and System Integrators, including Functional Requirements, Design Specifications, and DCS Application Software
Developing functional requirements and process control strategies in direct collaboration with Process Engineering
Design, code, configure, and test DCS software, including sequence logic, graphics, and batch software
Manage the tuning and troubleshooting of system integration across various platforms and sites
Maintain the validated state of site control systems in line with quality standards through the development and execution of validation strategies
Implement and support electronic systems, such as plant historians, used to capture production data
Lead and participate in design reviews, software reviews, and equipment Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
Coordinate a team of automation engineers during the commissioning phase of the project
Develop and implement the overarching Automation Engineering Project Plan
Partner with technical experts to influence the process control organization and meet business plan priorities and compliance objectives
Qualification
Required
Minimum B.S. in Engineering
Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in automation engineering, specifically within the biopharma, engineering, or manufacturing sectors
Experience in the design, development, commissioning, and qualification of highly automated greenfield manufacturing sites
Proven track record in handling system integration of applications, systems, and platforms in a GMP environment
Preferred
Technical proficiency in SCADA, DCS, MES, LIMS, Site Historian systems, and middleware (DeltaV, Rockwell, Syncade, LabVantage, OSI PI, OPC)
Expertise in developing native and custom application interfaces for data communication, ETL, and data parsing for non-standard equipment
Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, and computer system validation
Strong mentorship skills with the ability to lead a process control team through design and implementation
Demonstrated initiative, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet timelines
Keen technical curiosity and strong problem-solving skills focused on continuous improvement
Ability to influence peers and business partners across functional disciplines
Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Resilience and creativity to work in a fluid, dynamic environment as the site grows to full-scale manufacturing
