Associate Systems Engineer
Custom Computer Specialists is a leading technology consulting firm providing best in class solutions for over 45 years. They are seeking a Cisco/Meraki Associate System Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of network and wireless infrastructure across K–12 client environments, focusing on hands-on network deployment and client-facing field work.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with lead system engineers on network infrastructure design and deployment, following DOE and SCA standards
Perform rack and stack, patching, and cabling of network devices, including new construction environments
Configure, install, and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks
Document client environments pre- and post-implementation, including network changes and updates
Interact directly with clients to ensure successful deployments and high satisfaction
Communicate and escalate issues in a timely, professional manner
Provide detailed documentation, including client sign-off, punch lists, and resolutions
Perform network integration for end-user devices (desktops, laptops, printers)
Manage and coordinate third-party vendors as needed
Support and train end users on network, camera, or surveillance systems
Safely transport and safeguard equipment assigned for job sites
Mentor junior or newly hired Associate System Engineers
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with network integration and documentation
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, LAN, and WLAN technologies
Hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and access points
Experience performing IOS upgrades and downgrades on Cisco/Meraki devices
Knowledge of Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber cabling, standards, and terminations
Ability to read and interpret construction and network drawings
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on active construction sites
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
Preferred
CCNA certification
OSHA 10-hour (or higher) Construction Industry certification (required upon hire if not already obtained)
Prior experience working in NYC DOE school or administrative environments
Experience with video surveillance systems, Genetec Omnicast or Security Center
Experience updating CAD floor plans
