Seasonal Forester
The National Park Service is responsible for managing and protecting national parks, and they are seeking a Seasonal Forester to serve as a technical advisor in forestry and ecological forest management. The forester will oversee program development and implementation related to the management and protection of forest and tree resources across parks.

Responsibilities
Serve as a project leader for natural resource management projects
Conduct compliance for biocontrol of forest pests
Collect GPS and GIS data
Establish forest restoration plans
Lead multiple field crews organizing, scheduling, and executing established natural resource projects

Driver's License: You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required
You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record
You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you
Uniform: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
A uniform allowance will be provided
Travel: You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 8 nights per month
You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes
Minimum Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program
To qualify for a GS-0460 Forestry position, you must possess at least one of the following basic requirements: A full four-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in forestry; or a related subject-matter field that included a total of at least 30 semester hours in any combination of biological, physical, or mathematical sciences or engineering, of which at least 24 semester hours of course work were in forestry
The curriculum must have been sufficiently diversified to include courses in each of the following areas: Management of Renewable Resources, Forest Biology, Forest Resource Measurements and Inventory
A combination of education and experience that includes courses equivalent to a major in forestry, or at least 30 semester hours in any combination of biological, physical, or mathematical sciences or engineering, of which at least 24 semester hours were in forestry
In addition to the Basic Requirement, you must possess at least one of the following minimum requirements: Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal Service
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include performing forestry and ecology duties for the protection, conservation, and management of natural and/or cultural resources in park areas or similar operations, which involved the application of forest management practices to protect natural resources
You must include hours worked per week
Education: Successful completion of at least 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to this position
Two years of graduate education is 36 semester hours of 54 quarter hours
You must submit a copy of your transcripts
Combination: A combination of education and experience as described above that when combined meet 100% of the Minimum Requirement for this position
Only graduate level education in excess of 1 year of graduate-level education may be combined with experience
You must include transcripts and list hours per week worked
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social)
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking
Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university
