Mechanical Engineer

Intertek is a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world’s top-recognized brands and companies, and they are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Building & Construction team. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design and fabrication of testing equipment for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

Produce preliminary/conceptual drawings of initial ideas for equipment
Update existing drawings to reflect design changes
Produce new and update existing bills of material
Prepare written documentation for equipment including operations manuals and maintenance instructions
Confer with team to develop, enhance, and/or modify equipment design
Purchase materials for projects and shop
Perform other work as required
Provide excellent customer service
Follow and enforce all safety requirements and company policies

Required

High School Diploma or GED
0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (internships, co-ops, or academic projects count)
Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering principles (thermodynamics, mechanics, materials, fluids)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
Ability to perform basic calculations and engineering analyses
Willingness to learn and apply engineering standards and codes
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)

Preferred

BS Degree in Engineering
Hands-on experience through internships, lab work, or senior design projects
Ability to interpret industry standards for testing and building codes
Exposure to testing, inspection, or quality processes
Working knowledge of machining and fabrication processes
