New Jersey Courts is seeking a Court Services Officer 1 to join their team of 8500 members dedicated to serving the public with integrity and quality service. The role involves maintaining the Fund’s case management system and providing paralegal support within the legal department, requiring strong analytical and administrative skills.

Responsibilities

Make regular entries in the Fund’s case management system, tracking claim, litigation and collection status’ for over 1,300 respondents
Troubleshoots technical difficulties, makes substantive recommendations, request modifications, and performs tests to ensure proper operation of the Fund’s case management system
Develop and maintain a manual of procedures for case management system usage, reports, and record updating
Work with Deputy Counsel to generate a list of delinquent respondents and make recommendations of respondents from whom to pursue recovery based on income and asset investigations
Support the Fund’s participation in the Comprehensive Enforcement Program (CEP), generating summonses, Notices of Delinquency, Information Subpoenas, budget forms, order and arrest warrants to be sent to the Court and Respondents, being mindful of critical deadlines
Attend CEP Hearings to take notes and respond to inquiries about the processing of documents from the Hearing Officer
Enter notes into database, record outcomes of CEP hearings based on Orders signed by Judge & Hearing Officer
Track responses, respond to inquiries, and draft original correspondence for the Attorney 1
Analyze and record payments received from or on behalf of respondents noting source of funds (respondent, frozen trust funds, 3rd party) and prepare a Warrant of Satisfaction if paid in full
Record payment plans, monitor payment history and compliance, suggesting repayment solutions with lead counsel
Prepare financial statistical reports and provide same to staff and trustees monthly
Verify respondent addresses and contact information, maintain accurate respondent records, conduct desktop investigations using CLEAR to locate respondents and assets
Prepare spreadsheet of respondents selected for SOIL program (Division of Revenue) and ensure data is in compliance with program Rules
Assist with preparation of Bankruptcy case pleadings, including Adversary Complaints, Motions and Orders as needed
Suggest improvements to the Fund’s use of various collection and subrogation initiatives, cases and programs
Perform additional tasks to support the operational needs and objectives of the Client Protection Fund

Required

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and one year of paraprofessional experience in case management involving gathering, reviewing and verifying case-related information which shall have included one or more of the following: conducting investigations, monitoring casework flow, interviewing clients or customers for needed information, preparing investigative fact-finding reports and/or writing case notes or other case-related correspondence
Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
Driver's License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations
