Sr New Product Development Engineer

Responsibilities

Product Innovation: Spearhead the research, ideation, and development of catheter or medical component designs that meet rigorous clinical standards and patients needs. Apply advanced engineering principles to create cutting-edge, effective, reliable, and innovative solutions
Design for Manufacturability: Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to refine product designs, enabling efficient production flow and high yields. Design and specify appropriate equipment, tooling, and fixtures to optimize manufacturing processes. Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) and gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies to achieve optimal process parameters
Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster their professional growth. Train support staff on proper execution of manufacturing processes, specialized tooling, and fixtures, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards
Documentation: Develop comprehensive technical specifications, drawings, work instructions, test methods, and visual standards to ensure consistent and compliant product realization
Problem Solving: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify root causes of product design issues or nonconformances. Leverage your expertise to troubleshoot, refine designs, and implement corrective and preventive actions
Design Transfer: Facilitate seamless transition of product designs to manufacturing by providing critical Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input throughout the development lifecycle. Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful product commercialization

Required

Bachelor's Degree in mechanical, biomedical, or other relevant Engineering required
Minimum 8 years working in a catheter or medical component development and manufacturing environment, with a focus on product and process design
Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
A working knowledge of minimally invasive Medical Device design, development, and manufacturing processes
Working knowledge of process validation (IQ, OQ, PQ) strategy
Excellent working knowledge of GD&T and Solidworks
Working knowledge of Minitab
Experience with design controls, FDA regulations, GMP, GDP, and QMS requirements
Must be able to work with a microscope and sit and/or stand for an extended period of time
Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Preferred

Working knowledge of Six Sigma
Experience with lean manufacturing processes
Experience in defining budgets and schedules for projects
Experience with manufacturing and test fixture design
Understanding of machining principles and processes
