Director of Benefits

LHH is teaming up with an established organization in the financial services sector in Sacramento, CA in search of an Employee Benefits Director to support the full scope of benefits strategy, administration, compliance, and team leadership. The Director will have an influential role in shaping benefit offerings, optimizing processes, and supporting organizational goals.

Human Resources

Responsibilities

Lead the administration of health, ancillary, retirement, time‑off, and wellness benefit programs
Direct annual benefits planning, evaluation, negotiations, vendor management, benchmarking, and cost analysis
Develop and implement benefit plan changes and communications, including open enrollment management
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain compliance documentation, policies, schedules, and filings
Oversee audits, billing reconciliation, and benefits‑related reporting
Strengthen employee communications to ensure clear understanding and effective utilization of benefits
Manage departmental staff, providing coaching, guidance, and performance support
Participate in strategic planning, leadership meetings, and organizational initiatives
Maintain knowledge of federal and state regulations, including those relevant to financial services environments
Complete additional duties as assigned by executive leadership

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field required
Minimum of 10 years of experience in health and welfare benefits and retirement plan administration for large employee populations
Strong understanding of benefits regulations, compliance, and HRIS/benefits enrollment systems required
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel required
Excellent communication, analytical, and project-management abilities required
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and interact effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels required

Preferred

Advanced benefits or HR certifications (SPHR, CEBS, CCP, SHRM‑CP, etc.) preferred
At least 7 years of management or leadership experience preferred
