Responsibilities

Install, terminate, and test single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables
Perform fiber testing using OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and interpret test results
Conduct BERT (Bit Error Rate Testing) to validate signal integrity and transmission quality
Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues, signal loss, and performance degradation
Perform fiber splicing (fusion and mechanical) and connectorization
Install and maintain fiber patch panels, trays, and enclosures
Support data center activities including rack & stack, cross-connects, and cabling audits
Maintain accurate documentation of fiber routes, test reports, and labeling
Work closely with network engineers and operations teams to resolve issues
Follow data center standards, safety protocols, and change management procedures
Provide on-call or after-hours support as required

Required

Proven experience as a Data Center Technician or Fiber Technician
Strong hands-on experience with OTDR testing
Strong hands-on experience with BERT testing
Strong hands-on experience with Fiber optics (SMF/MMF)
Experience with fiber splicing and termination tools
Ability to read and understand fiber diagrams, schematics, and as-built documentation
Knowledge of data center standards (TIA, ISO, structured cabling best practices)
Familiarity with network equipment (switches, routers, optical transceivers)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
