Dimensional Engineer
Sigma Software Vertex is seeking a Dimensional Engineer to own dimensional requirements from early design through production launch for assigned vehicle systems. The role involves developing 3D tolerance analysis models, collaborating with various engineering teams, and supporting quality and manufacturing during issue resolution.
Responsibilities
Own dimensional requirements from early design through production launch for assigned vehicle systems or commodities
Develop and maintain 3D tolerance analysis (DVA) models to predict variation and assess design robustness
Define and validate GD&T schemes aligned with functional and manufacturing intent
Partner with Design Engineering to influence part geometry, locators, and interfaces to meet dimensional and craftsmanship targets
Support top-down and bottom-up dimensional integration, ensuring alignment with vehicle-level requirements
Review and approve drawings, CAD releases, and engineering changes from a dimensional standpoint
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on fixture concepts, locating strategies, and build assumptions
Support Quality and Manufacturing teams during issue resolution, including gap/flush, fit, and alignment concerns
Analyze build and measurement data (CMM, scan data, build reports) to validate models and drive corrective actions
Lead or support dimensional root cause analysis, proposing effective countermeasures and design or process improvements
Present dimensional status, risks, and recommendations in design and program reviews
Support supplier discussions related to dimensional feasibility, tolerance capability, and corrective actions
