The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is responsible for the financial integrity of the Government of the District of Columbia. They are seeking an Accountant to examine, analyze, and provide financial advice on accounting matters, while preparing financial reports and ensuring the reliability of funds and records.

Responsibilities

Preparing and interpreting financial reports, statements and data
Performing reconciliations of accounts and auditing accounting transactions
Reconciling general ledger accounts to agency records; preparing various accounting reports
Assisting with conducting complex financial studies
Ensuring the reliability and security of funds and records
Advising management on the status of accounts and recommending alternatives
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Two (2) years of progressive experience performing responsibilities such as processing and reconciling financial transactions, assisting with preparation of financial reports, and verifying accuracy of financial data
Applicant must have a bachelor's degree earned at an accredited US institution in accounting or related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting
This can include up to six (6) hours of business law
Applicants must submit an official transcript that verifies a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting in order to be considered
If applicable, your application package must include a foreign credential course by course evaluation of all foreign transcripts
Acceptable foreign credential equivalency reports must be provided by organizations that have current membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE)
