They are seeking a Composites Intern to provide production support for composite manufacturing, performing a variety of tasks that assist the production shop floor.

Responsibilities

Provides production support for composite manufacturing in a variety of areas
Read and follow basic instructions and diagrams in English
Use basic shop math skills to record information such as freezer out-time, or mixture weights
Follow standard shop practices and quality standards in the aerospace industry
Prepare molds using shop-approved release agents
Layup materials to molds and remove air pockets using approved hands, squeegees, and heat guns
Occasionally mix resins and catalysts as specified
Trim laminated fabric
Perform physical and environmental checks and document work for manufacturing travelers
Builds semi-complex ply-buildups under minimal supervision, ensuring that the plies are well-compacted
Vacuum bag parts applying best practices, ensuring that the vacuum bags do not leak during cure
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required: preferred 20 hours per week
Performs all other duties as assigned

Required

A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma/GED and at least two years schooling pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or industrial engineering
0-2 years of relevant work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Possesses high mechanical aptitude
Attention to detail
Ability to follow instructions explicitly or innovate, depending on situation
Possesses strong problem-solving skills
Ongoing manufacturing support and engineering insight to other support staff
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Possesses knowledge and understanding of continuous improvement environment
Ability to read design specifications and technical drawings
Ability to handle multiple projects and to work alongside peers
Ability to manage time to get work completed on schedule
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required: preferred 20 hours per week
