EDS Design and Release Engineer
Ford Motor Company is a leading automotive manufacturer known for its innovative vehicles. The Low Voltage EDS Design and Release Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of wiring harnesses, ensuring compliance with various program targets.

Responsibilities
Design wiring harnesses complying with program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets
Lead 3D wire routing and package CAD layout activity
Interface with Systems Engineering on logical and physical schematic development
Definition and support of wire size/type selection based on Requirements and Design Rules
Utilize best design efficiencies for manufacturing, assembly, and failure mode avoidance practices
Issue resolution in Digital and Build Phases of Product Development
Create and maintain program specific foundation documents (Boundary Diagrams, Quality History, P-diagram, DFMEA, etc.)
Create and maintain harness family complexity
Drive commonality of designs across multiple programs and platforms
Develop and maintain installation illustrations
Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting
Complete Technical Design Reviews (TDR’s) with Technical Specialists
Manage component and harness APQP with STA Partners and on time part delivery
Review pre-production vehicles for potential campaign items and assess warranty impact
Participate in vehicle builds and lead resolution of issues (AIMS)
Lead resolution of warranty (GSAR) issues with PVT and Supplier
Lead EDS cost analysis/estimates and support reviews
Define harness to harness in-line connector pinouts and terminal sizing
Lead electrical EDS compatibility reviews and sign-off wire harness prints
Lead signoff of EDS Design requirements and Design rule checks
Qualification
Required
BS in Mechanical, Electrical and Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Strong English Proficiency (written, read, and oral)
Design Capable in 3D via Catia V5 or 3DX
Ability to travel to suppliers or assembly facilities to support APQP and build events
Low Voltage Wiring Experience
Minimum 3+ Wiring or electrical years of experience
Preferred
Functional knowledge of vehicle electrical system or functional knowledge of vehicle wiring system
Working knowledge of vehicle development process (GPDS), change control process (WERS), and vehicle launch experience
Microsoft Office Usage (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)
