Hotel Assistant Financial Controller – Hawaii, USA
Renard International Hospitality Search Consultants is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller to support the Financial Controller in all aspects of a luxury hotel’s financial operations. This role involves ensuring financial reporting integrity, strengthening internal controls, and maintaining compliance with laws and regulations while collaborating with various teams to support operational and financial objectives.
Responsibilities
Assist in overseeing all hotel accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company standards
Actively participate in monthly and annual financial processes including; Budget preparation and forecasting, Monthly financial close and reporting, Financial statement audits, 401(k) audits, Internal control audits, Income tax return preparation
Support preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with corporate policies and applicable accounting standards, as well as continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes, systems, and controls
Assess, develop, implement, and manage internal control frameworks to ensure compliance with JSOX and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Ensure all accounting processes, procedures, policies, and documentation are properly established, maintained, and followed
Assist with compliance and reporting requirements for governmental and regulatory authorities
Partner with internal and external auditors and coordinate audit activities
Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume hotel environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Minimum of five (5) years of related accounting experience required
Previous hotel accounting experience required; luxury hotel brand experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of hotel finance, accounting principles, and internal control environments
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
Proven experience with financial reporting tools and accounting software
Preferred
Experience working in large, complex hotel properties highly desirable
Experience importing and managing data through various financial and operational applications preferred
