Mid, Senior LevelReval Recruiting is representing a client that is a financial technology platform focused on unlocking a new way for users to mitigate diesel price risk. They are seeking a Founding Engineer to own and evolve core backend systems, emphasizing APIs and data architecture.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain backend services with a focus on APIs, system reliability, and scalable data architecture
Lead backend evolution and migrations toward long-term architectural goals
Build services from scratch in a cloud environment such as AWS
Partner with frontend engineers to support and enable core product workflows
Implement and maintain secure systems, including authentication, permissions, and data integrity
Identify and handle edge cases to ensure system robustness and reliability
Contribute to technical decision-making that shapes both product direction and engineering culture
Qualification
Required
Experienced with Python, particularly FastAPI, in production environments
Familiar with the React ecosystem, with enough fluency to collaborate effectively across the stack
Comfortable working with Supabase, including authentication, data modeling, and row-level security
Confident standing up services end to end in AWS or similar cloud platforms
Opinionated about building secure, reliable systems, with a strong understanding of backend best practices
Analytical and methodical, with strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with mathematical concepts

Strong foundation in mathematics or statistics
